Smoke on the Water The Valelands & The Nerath Timeline The current year for our Valelands campaign is set during the year 103AE. Inspired By Gary Gygax

Smoke on the Water is an adequate tavern and restaurant near the center of the village. This building is not large at all. Outside of it hangs a sign bearing the name of the establishment. The tavern's central lounge contains a blazing hearth. Every door features a stout bar that can be swung down to bar it against forceful intrusion, and additionally, its backrooms and upper rooms acts as guestrooms, with chimneys poking out from each of them.

The establishment overall is lacking in luxuries, but feels as comfortable as any standard tavern. The tavern carries a decent selection of ales and brews and offer foods such as stews, round loaves of dark nut bread, and strong yellow-green cheeses. Beyond the food the tavern offers lodgings, though the sale of food outstripps these so much that the owners don't see fit to call themselves an inn. These are primarily utilized by weary travelers far from home or those who are temporarily apart from their family for whatever reason.

The tavern acts as a neutral meeting ground for locals to gossip about strange events going on in the area, trade, and pursue hobbies such as gambling. The tavern is own by an man named Bilby. He is a nervous old fellow, always worrying about the strange happenings going on with Mistwatch. He tries his best to maintain a low profile to not attract any unwanted attention. He is kind and considerate to his customers and always willing to pull up a chair and talk to visitors.

Our Valelands Campaign Nentir Vale Map
"A century has passed since the great human Empire of Nerath fell, leaving the Nentir Vale a desolate borderland region populated by "points of light"—isolated towns and villages surrounded by a monster-infested wilderness. The mighty empires of the dragonborn and tieflings that existed long before Nerath also lie in ruins, their legacies lost beneath the untamed land. The roads are dangerous, overgrown, and plagued by bandits, marauding humanoids, and foul beasts.

Travel between civilized areas like the trading town of Fallcrest and the dwarven citadel of Hammerfast is a peril-filled journey. Ruined keeps and abandoned manors, remnants of a forgotten age, litter the countryside, ripe for adventurers to explore and claim as their own. This land does not have a powerful kingdom to enforce its laws or fend off the growing evils. It needs heroes who are brave enough to venture into the dark and face the lurking monsters and evil cults."

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D) is a more complex, expansive version of the original tabletop role-playing game published by TSR in the late 1970s to add depth and complexity that its creator, Gary Gygax, felt was missing from the original. It features more rules, character options, and more campaign settings.

TSR (Tactical Studies Rules): is the publisher of the original Dungeons & Dragons and also created AD&D.
• Editions: AD&D 1st edition was first published in 1977.
• Core Books: TSR released the core rulebooks (Monster Manual, Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide) in the late 1970s and early 1980s, setting the standard for the game's 1st Edition. TSR later released the Unearthed Arcana commonly referred to as the 1.5 edition.
• Complexity: AD&D added more detailed rules, higher-level play, more character classes, and a wider variety of options compared to the original game.
• Separate Games: TSR published AD&D alongside a parallel, less complex version called Basic Dungeons & Dragons (BD&D), which was designed to be easier to learn and play.
• 1st Edition (1977-1979): The initial release, which was more complex and had a lot more tables & charts for players to use.

« About Our Adventures »

Our campaigns will consist of multiple adventures tied together to create long lasting campaigns as well as single module adventures as well. These adventures will work together to create "our own" Nentir Vale campaign setting.

We are always looking for more people that would like to join us that will be "dedicated" players & DMs. We are very rusty to online play and have been away from the game for a long time so, if you can tolerate some mistakes being made while we learn then please give us a shout out.
