Lionshield Coster
The Valelands & The Nerath Timeline
The current year for our Valelands campaign is set during the year 103AE.
Inspired By Gary Gygax

The Lionshield Coster, also called the Lionshields, is a merchant company based in the city of Fallcrest, a city to the northwest, that also operates in Phandalin.

The merchant company's symbol is a image of a lion's head placed upon a wooden or metal shield. In some instances the lion is colored blue, while in others it is emblazoned over a blue background.

The merchant company is able to ship finished goods, such as supplies of armor and weapons, throughout the Vale and to settlements outside of the Vale as well via small ships and boats that traverse the White River as well as the Nentir River.

One such settlement is Portown located in the southern reaches of the borderlands. The settlements trading post is overseen by Linene Graywind, a sharp-tongued human woman in her mid thirties. The organization also has a trading post in Winterhaven as well, run by Darthag Ulgar, and a store called the Lion's Share in Nenlast which is to the north of Phandalin, managed by Narth Tezrin and Alaestra Ulgar.

This particular location is a modest building. Above the front door is a weathered wooden sign in the shape of a shield on which is painted a blue lion. Armor and weapons are stored in a back room to keep them out of the hands of any who might wish harm upon the people of Phandalin. The store serves as an outpost and delivery point for caravans run by the Lionshield Coster that make come down the White River, and specializes mostly in providing the people of Phandalin with finished goods, armor, weapons, and other adventuring equipment. It is perhaps the only place in Phandalin where adventurers can sell valuable treasures for reasonable prices, although the rates are much lower than in Fallcrest or Winterhaven.

In the Year of 101AE, deliveries to the Phandalin Lionshield Coster were frequently attacked by bandits, including the Cragmaw tribe. At least one caravan was completely lost, with all of its goods being stolen. The master of the trading post is Linene Graywind, who is assisted by her daughter, Minghee Graywind. They do not live on-site, but have a small home within the settlement of Phandalin.
